Has anybody heard Willie Nelson cover Stella Blue on his new album?? if not, i suggest you listen to it now! He has such a knack for music, it's unreal. Great great cover.

Sorry for the late update, but a buddy of mine that works for the Marin County Arts Council sent me this little excerpt from Robert Hunter re Willie's cover of Stella Blue:

Just heard Willie Nelson doing Stella Blue. I dig the way he understates and lets the words carry the message. Mastery. I felt, somewhere around the second verse, that Jerry was listening with me. An extraordinary feeling. He was very proud of our songs. At their best his melodies are as good as any and better than most. Stella Blue is unique. Nothing else like it. The Major, major 7th, suspended four to the 4th chord which opens it, then the drop to the minor in the ninth bar, set a dark and wistful mood that couldn't be more accommodating for the lyric, as well as standing beautifully without it. There's no feeling the words could exist in any other setting or that the setting could take other words. I like that about it. It becomes a reality all its own.

I just heard it for the first time last night, is very nice! Didn't get through the whole disc, but a few other tasty nugs to. Could this have helped?

I'll make you a copy with your other stuff my friend. The reps give me these promos so I can sell them better, and I don't see that making one or two copies to pass around is in any way unethical, if that generates a few sales. I sold 2 or 3 today, and haven't even listened to it all the way through yet! Willie's pretty cool and I doubt if Jerry or Hunter would object...

thank you for that offer - just got a copy emailed to me though - very nice version - i appreciate you thinking of me.

your discs are ready to go with the package tomorrow - almost couldn't find disc one of 7/8 but it almost literally fell into my lap as my kitten knocked over a stack of discs - lol. (damn thing is about to knock over a ton of other stuff - he goes insane about this hour).

i am set on this end - hope the postal service gets the box to you in good shape - lol.

Wolves and mini black panthers! What a combo, maybe my long gone Delilah is back in your little black kitty!? Hey, anything's possible! Especially with us being long lost twin brothers separated at birth 15 (+ or -) years apart???

if your long gone Delilah turned into a psychotic lunatic around midnight - you may have something there my long lost brother. He's talking up a storm, racing around the room, and causing general havoc. very cute actually, so i can't complain. good in a way too - this way he'll go to sleep with me instead of assuming it's play time when my head hits the pillow very shortly.

Delilah used to go hunting around midnight. Always had to look over the edge of the bed before I put my feet down... Usually had some sort of "present" there for me... Good kitty!!!
